Here’s a behind the scenes view and tips of how I’ve transformed my working space during the Covid-19 pandemic. In the beginning I crammed everything onto shelves so that I could see the files and items that I needed without having to remember where their new home was. Thankfully, my family let me use the dining room as a new office. I used the kitchen for my appointment desk. The whole family did. The calendar grew and grew until it was a big white page with sticky notes everywhere. Then, we discovered the best routine for us. I also dusted off a few things that helped me remember who I am. Some parts of my identity needed to pass on while I was reinventing myself during this cocooning period.

It took a little while to set up a functional space for all the virtual meetings that needed to take place. I posted inspiring letters I’d received, especially one from Erich Yetter at Anderson University reminding me that I know what I’m doing even when others, who may be more competitive, try to invalidate me. Beside the sewing station I hung a photograph by Hal Looney that celebrates the colors that resonate with my soul.
