PaperCut by Parth Kothekar

Artists take great lengths of time to painstakingly hand-craft every single piece. They produce exquisite and intricate artworks inspired by everyday life. It’s vital that artists also learn to create capacity in those who work along side them. Loosening control and encouraging others will bring together a strong team. Take time this week to help yourself by celebrating the gifts of the others on your team.

“Leaders create capacity in others not dependency on themselves.”

Ronald Heifitz
How can I celebrate the gifts of others this week?
  • Trust your team. Do not create dependency on yourself. Try not to insert yourself into each task, but instead watch how they would approach it.
  • Create a system that will allow others to make decisions different than your preferences.
  • Expand your circle to allow volunteers who may not idolize you.
  • Allow others to represent your organization this week. They need the affirmation too!

Papercut is a store by Parth Kothekar in Ahmedabad, India. Each of his works are hand sketched to begin with, then carefully fleshed out using a knife and board, made from a single piece of paper. Dancers, musicians, artists, teachers, directors all consume hours and hours of time to painstakingly refine every effort of diligence they can. Powerful and lifechanging artworks are made because artists feel a inner conviction or calling to broaden the horizons of the viewer. Now more than ever artists and directors must create capacity in those who work along side them. Loosening control and encouraging others to stay strong in the face for adverse times, together as a strong team. Take time this week to help yourself by celebrating the gifts of the others on your team.
