The beginning of Fall….While there are days when the soft light shines through the sunflower stalks and I think, “It’s a fresh new year”. The crisp new beginning of the school year more often shows it’s arrival by the smell of soft leather ballet slippers. ” What level will I be in?  Who will be in that level with me?  I hope our routines are creative and ingenious”

It’s been a few years since I wondered about the dance level I would be in – but I remember those studio days and college schedules that materialized this time of year.  Now, on the other side of my education, I am continually looking over the class rosters and developing the plan for the semester.  My questions have become, “I wonder how tall she grew this summer.  I hope they did their core exercises.  This song will be perfect for the spirit of that class of ladies.”

Today, I will be inviting new parents of pre-dancers into the world of FRIENDS DANCE CLASSES.  We will be measuring feet and outfitting 3, 4, and 5 year olds for the next few weeks.  It never ceases to amaze me that every child is born knowing how to dance.  My job is to remind them and strengthen them throughout childhood and into adulthood as creative, dancing, quality movers.  The new pre-dancers will actually bring inspiration.  They remind each teacher and audience member what is is like to be young and alive.

The Fall dance classes begin on Monday.  I can’t wait to see the smiles.  I can’t wait to see the pudgy toes.
